Rotary Switches – T Range

Flexible for all switching functions
The modular system is particularly flexible and enables a wide range of different combinations and types.
T rotary switches are available for rated uninterrupted currents from 10A to 315A in three basic designs: flush mounting (front fixing), centre mounting (base fixing with coupling) and surface mounting (insulated enclosure).
Each of these basic forms offers several variants. Mounting in central control or distribution panels and as main switches or main switches used as Emergency-Stop devices to IEC/EN 60 204-1, VDE 0113 Part 1.
T rotary switches can be used in a wide range of applications,
as described below

Auxiliary circuit control switches

T rotary switches for auxiliary circuits simplify command functions at central locations. For example, a particular program can be selected from a control station, thus saving time and providing a clear central overview of the production process.
Coding, step, series and manual/automatic switches are common applications for auxiliary-circuit control switches. T0 rotary switches and TM mini rotary switches are particularly suitable for this purpose, with space-saving installation.
With up to 22 contacts and 12 switch positions, the T0 handles a wide range of switching tasks. The small dimensions of the TM make it ideally suitable for use in conjunction with the RMQ Titan command and signalling range.

Maintenance, repair and safety switches
A number of padlocks may be fitted in the Off position. Disconnection is therefore visible, and the equipment cannot be switched on again.

On-Off switches

T rotary switches and P switch-disconnectors provide reliable service for lighting and heating systems, motors etc. in accordance with utilisation category AC-3, as well as in applications requiring a high switching capacity and switching frequency.
Other typical applications for T rotary switches include:
Star-delta motor starting circuits with or without reversing and with or without a contactor interlock.

  • Motor speed variation (tapped windings) for two, three or four speeds, with or without reversing.
  • Switching a load between two power systems, or connecting one power system to two loads using the same switch.
  • Three-phase motor starting on a single-phase power system with a capacitor.
  • Stepped switching for any required number of loads, with or without a zero position.
  • Ammeter switching for measurement directly or via current transformers.

Switch-Disconnectors – P Rang

For absolute safety
Like T rotary switches, P switch-disconnectors are manually-operated switching devices without any release or switch mechanism but with a direct link between manual operating element and the contact. The contacts are positively opened on de-energization, and the auxiliary contacts are interlocked opposing contacts.

P1 and P3 switch-disconnectors also enable N and/or HI functions to be added later with a make or break contact. In this case, the auxiliary make contact is always connected as a load-shedding contact for contactor control. The contactor thus carries the load switching power and the switch just has to disconnect the circuit.
Typical applications for P switch-disconnectors are described below.

Maintenance, repair and safety switches
P switch-disconnectors are suitable as safe maintenance and repair switches or as enclosed main switches for a single load.
Several padlocks can be fitted to it when in the Off position, thus ensuring life-saving safety requirements. Disconnection is visible and the equipment cannot be switched on again.

The safety switches comply with the specifications for safety-design of technical products to DIN 31000/VDE 1000.

On-Off switches
P switch-disconnectors provide reliable service for lighting and heating systems, motors etc.. They are also suitable for direct switching of motors to utilisation category AC-3. Their high switching capacity means that they can operate reliably where frequent On and Off switching is required
